Derrick Adams’ “The Entertainer”

/ Programs - Video

On Saturday, March 28, the Museum welcomed artist Derrick Adams, as he performed  The Entertainer with STATIC | DISTORTION |INTERFERENCE.

The Entertainer is an original performance that incorporates a musical interpretation of white, gray, and black noise composed by Philippe Treuille and a projection by Ramon Silva with Adams’ live performance. Adams acts as a human Beatbox, mimicking the sounds echoing from a TV, microphone, and speaker, while including sound bites from media programming. The graphic imagery is inspired by the bold formal structure of Russian Constructivist propaganda used in advertising and broadcasting. The piece is a commentary on the effects of media bombardment in today’s society.
