Rising Art of Rising Stars is an art show of the art of high school students (to be) exhibited at the Birmingham Museum of Art on April 15, 2006. Due to limited space, not all submissions will be shown. Teenagers (ages 13-19) from Birmingham and the surrounding area are encouraged to submit their work in traditional media (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc) to be selected for the show. Requirements: Two-dimensional wall-hanging pieces must come framed. There are no size requirements. Three dimensional entries to be exhibited on a pedestal need to be less than 20" tall. Entrants must fill out an entry form and tape it to either their carefully packaged original pieces of artwork, or a set of slides of their work. Submission instructions: Submissions (entry form + artwork or slides) should be taken to the Birmingham Museum of Art and left in the very easy to find education department. Make sure to visit during museum hours: tues-sun . Due to the uncertain nature of travel, please show great care with your original pieces of artwork. We recommend wrapping them in acetate, as we cannot assume responsibility for damage done to unprotected submissions, especially during the ride over. If you find yourself unable or unwilling to transport your work, slides are a wonderful alternative. If your piece will require special display instructions (hanging from the ceiling, etc), please describe this on the reverse side of the entry form. Judging: Not all pieces that are submitted will be shown. Entries are judged blind (judges are unaware of a piece's author); if you submit a picture, this will be included on the description panel of your artwork, and plays no role in the judging process. Judges evaluate on overall aesthetic merit of the piece and the following: 1.) Creativity 2.) Originality 3.) Technique (mastery of medium) |
