Celebrate art inspired by the Museum’s collection and created during education programs throughout the year. For more than 30 years, the Museum has collaborated with school systems, teachers, students, community groups, and Museum visitors to provide innovative arts experiences that enable students to develop creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate. In this exhibition, you will see how the Museum influenced the creativity of the area students through our school, outreach, and studio programs.
Our outreach programs combine discussions and hands-on studio activities and prepare students for life-long learning in the arts. In addition, sessions take place in the students’ own learning environments, ensuring broad accessibility to the rich cultural heritage of our community. Classes in the Museum’s studio are taught by working artists, who connect studio art to the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions. Our newest studio initiative is the Museum Academy, a unique experience in Birmingham that provides students the opportunity to learn from original artworks in the galleries. See how these programs inspired the art in the exhibition!
