Curator: Jeannine O'Grody, PhD

Jeannine O'Grody is curator of European Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art. She has held positions or fellowships at the National Gallery of Art in Washington (1989-92), the Cleveland Museum of Art (1992-94, 1997-98), and Harvard University's Fogg Art Museum (1994-95). She received her Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University; M.A., Syracuse University's Florence Fellowship Program; B.A., College of William & Mary.

O'Grody's area of expertise is Italian Renaissance art. She lived for several years in Italy, where she researched Michelangelo's creative process for her masters degree and doctoral dissertation. She subsequently has published articles and catalogue entries on Michelangelo and on the Baroque sculptor, Gianlorenzo Bernini. O'Grody has lectured widely in the field of Renaissance and Baroque Art, including the ever popular "The Art of Leonardo: The Da Vinci Code Deciphered," delivered at numerous museums across the country. She is currently engaged in projects including exhibitions on Leonardo da Vinci's drawings, Bouguereau's female nudes, views of Tivoli, Florentine patronage, and Italian Renaissance portraits.
