Hess Education Gallery
In the Spring of 2012, the new hands-on family galleries will open to the public. Make plans to visit the Bart’s ArtVenture!
Congratulations to the winner of our naming contest, Joye Hehn, who will be rewarded with her own special party in the space for coming up with "Bart's ArtVenture". We appreciate the great suggestions that have concluded with a new gallery name which captures the spirit of the new space.
Construction began in January, and as you read this the space is well along toward completion. Everything is designed so that more than one person can participate, to inspire conversation between kids and families. The Museum is trying to embrace the actual concept of community within the space.
The goals of the redesign are to enhance hands-on learning in fun ways that are inspired by the Museum’s stellar collection of art. As part of an ongoing strategic evaluation process at the Museum, we have really placed an emphasis on our commitment to serving children and families. We want to get on families’ mental radar, as a destination for learning and creativity.
With this new family gallery, we are creating a place where art comes alive, in a bright, fun space that reflects the diversity of the Museum’s fantastic permanent collection. Children will be able to work in age-appropriate zones, the Sonat Family Gallery space being specifically designed for toddlers and crawlers. So gather up your kids from age one to one hundred, and come to the new gallery to explore your creativity and discover just how fun the Museum can be!
