I Love Chicago in the Springtime...

May 2009

Take off to Chicago for a Spring Break.  You will enjoy an architectural tour of the city by river cruise and visit the Art Institute of Chicago, the Oriental Institute Museum of the University of Chicago, and the Field Museum.  Also, you will travel to the town of Oak Park, site of Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio, and see a number of homes designed by Wright in the Prairie School style. Dates to be confirmed soon.

Atlanta for the Day

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Take a day trip with the Museum’s Senior Curator, Donald Wood, PhD, and experience two high caliber exhibitions. Begin with an archeological discovery at the High Museum of Art, host to The First Emperor: China’s Terracotta Army. You may remember objects from this exhibition that were featured in the Birmingham Museum of Art’s 1996 exhibition, The First Emperor: Treasures from Ancient China. You will also tour Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs at the Atlantic Civic Center. The exhibition is comprised of 130 objects, including 50 of King Tut’s burial objects.
