General Museum admission is free. Admission may be charged for special blockbuster exhibitions.

Hours

Tuesday – Saturday, 10am-5pm.  Sunday, noon-5pm.

Location

The Birmingham Museum of Art is located at 2000 Rev. Abraham Woods, Jr. Blvd (formerly 8th Avenue North) in downtown Birmingham. The Museum sits on the corner of Rev. Abraham Woods, Jr. Blvd. and Richard Arrington, Jr. Boulevard (21st Street North) on the left (north-west) side of the street.

Parking

Free parking is available in the Museum lot, located behind the Museum off Richard Arrington, Jr. Boulevard. Designated parking spaces are available for visitors with disabilities. Additional parking is available in nearby Boutwell Parking Deck and in public parking spaces along Ninth Avenue North. The Museum cannot validate parking in areas other than our attached lot.

Photography Policy

Flash photography and tripods are not permitted in the Museum. Visitors may obtain a non-flash photography pass at the security station of any entrance. Photography is not permitted in special exhibitions. Works of art on loan from private collections or other institutions may not be photographed. Hand-held video cameras may be used with a photography pass.

Safety and Security

To ensure the safety of our collection and all visitors to the Museum, visitors are required to check bags larger than 11 x 15 inches. Lockers are provided. Visitors are asked to carry bags on one shoulder and to maintain a distance of 1 foot from works of art. The use of pens is not allowed; pencils may be used to take notes or sketch. The use of cell phones is not permitted in the galleries.
