The Museum is proud to celebrate Heart Gallery Alabama’s 10th anniversary by featuring this exhibition of children searching for loving, permanent families. For reasons beyond their control, they have found themselves living in the Alabama foster care system. Many have passed through several homes, enduring neglect and sometimes violence. Others may be considered “harder to place” because they belong to a sibling group or have special needs. Some are older children who have endured the system for years.

Heart Gallery Alabama collaborates with award-winning professional photographers to create images that capture the unique spirit of each child in a moving photographic, multimedia, and narrative journey – featured online and in public venues across the state.

The Museum is committed to being an active civic partner in our community. Ten years ago, the Museum hosted Heart Gallery’s first-ever exhibition. Since that time, the exhibition has led to the adoption of over 600 children. The mission of Heart Gallery Alabama is to find forever families for children in Alabama’s foster care system by raising awareness for the approximately 300 children who are available for adoption.
