The Birmingham Museum of Art is pleased to present an after-hours experience on the first Thursday of each month. Wander the galleries, sip cocktails in the garden, catch a movie, or sit down with friends for tapas at Oscar's. The Museum is open for your enjoyment until 9PM

5PM - 9PM // OPEN GALLERIES featuring The Look of Love: Eye Miniatures from the Skier Collection

Every one of our beautiful galleries will be open throughout the evening. With a collection of over 24,000 works of art, we are constantly rotating our growing permanent collection and featuring newly acquired works, ensuring that each visit to the Museum is a fresh experience.

5PM - 9PM // TAPAS & COCKTAILS

Enjoy tapas & cocktails with live music in our café or take advantage of the cool weather by dining al fresco on the new Spencer Terrace! In addition to their tapas menu, Oscar's will offer delicious gourmet pizzas, grilled on a new wood-burning, outdoor pizza oven. Check out this month's featured pizza here.

For just $12, visitors may partake of a full tapas menu including gourmet pizza, assorted charcuterie, flatbreads, vegetables, olives, and spiced meat skewers. A cash bar will be open throughout the evening for guests.

5PM - 9PM // SHOPPING AT THE MUSEUM STORE

Enjoy a distinctive, local shopping experience with unique items from the Museum Store! Our eclectic mix features everything from gorgeous jewelry, scarves and artwork by local artists, to beautiful books, stationary, and art related activities for children. Don't forget that Museum members receive an automatic 10% discount. Plus, all sales benefit the Birmingham Museum of Art.

6PM // CURATOR TALK

Curator Dr. Graham Boettcher will give a tour of the The Look of Love and discuss the scandalous background of this mesmorizing collection of jewelry.

6:30PM - 8:00PM // DROP-IN AND DRAW

7PM // FILM PRESENTED BY SIDEWALK

Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival presents a screening selection inspired by the scandalous love story behind The Look of Love exhibition. The Governess: When the father of privileged Rosina da Silva violently dies, she decides to pass herself off as a gentile and finds employment with a family in faraway Scotland. Soon she and the family father, Charles, start a passionate secret affair.
