The 1st Bunting Biennial Ceramics Symposium was a great success!

We are delighted to announce the success of the 1st Bunting Biennial Ceramics Symposium with the theme, Clay Embodied: Ceramics and the Human Form held at the Museum on February 22-23, 2013.  The symposium began on Friday with a fantastic lecture given by ceramic artist Magdalene Odundo to a packed auditorium.  It continued on Saturday with an exciting and well-rounded line up of national and international speakers that included critic and collector Garth Clark; Bonnie Kemske, ceramicist and editor of Ceramic Review; and our own curators Dr. Jeannine O’Grody and Dr. Emily Hanna.  In conjunction with the Alabama Clay Conference and through the generosity of Dr. and Mrs. Peter D. Bunting, the Museum celebrated its extensive collection of world ceramics with a weekend ceramics extravaganza!

The 2nd Bunting Biennial Ceramics Symposium will be held in February 2015 with a new theme, new speakers and another big ceramics weekend.  Stay tuned for more information in the months to come!
