Bart’s Art Cart: Native American Necklaces

Visually Impaired Program: Bridges Between the Earthly and Spiritual Realms

September 13 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

In this program for adults, held the second Saturday of each month, specially trained docents present the Museum’s collection by means of verbal descriptions, three-dimensional tactile models based on original works of art, and sculpture. The experience may be enhanced by related music and/or art-making to provide multi-sensory access to the visual arts.

Space is limited; reservations are required. Please RSVP by Monday, September 8.

VIP tours are also available for school-age or adult groups. To reserve your spot or learn more about group tours, call 205.254.2643.

The Detroit Institute of Arts – Past, Present, and Future

Founded in 1885, the Detroit Institute of Arts is one of the most renowned art museums in the country. DIA’s Executive Director of Collection Strategies and Information Salvador Salort-Pons, Ph.D. will highlight the distinguished history of the DIA and its outstanding collection of European Art. He will also introduce the innovative 2007 re-installation of the entire collection, which established the museum as one of the most visitor-friendly in the country. The DIA is among the top six encyclopedic art museums in North America, comprising extraordinary collections of European and American Art.
