The Sankofa Society, a Museum support group for African-American and African art, will host its first gala on Saturday, August 29. Sankofa members will vote on one work of art they wish to acquire for the Museum with part of their membership dues. The evening will feature great food, music, and dancing. Benefits future Museum purchases of African-American and African art. Gala committee members include Majella Chube Hamilton, John Hudson III, Karla Fields, Carnetta Davis, Gaynell Hendricks, Desirée Alexander, Dr. Art Bacon, Henry Turner, Alma Dennis, Nyya Hudson, and Phyllis Johnson.
