ArtBreak: Delacroix and the Power of Color

April 15 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm

Event Navigation

Please note that you must purchase a ticket to the exhibition Delacroix and the Matter of Finish to attend ArtBreak. Admission is free for Museum members and $15 for non-members.

Feed your body and mind at noon every Tuesday. Join us for a 20-30 minute gallery talk. Stay for lunch at Oscar’s Café and they will throw in a free dessert!

At this week’s ArtBreak, Curator of European Art Dr. Robert Schindler will discuss Delacroix and the Power of Color. Hailed as one of the great colorists of all time by his artist friends and critics alike, Delacroix’s mastery of painting is unrivaled in his time. He was seen, and saw himself, as following in the footsteps of such great old masters as Rubens and Rembrandt. The exhibition Delacroix and The Matter of Finish provides an extraordinary opportunity to study his genius first-hand, and this talk will help understand and appreciate Delacroix’s remarkable virtuosity.
